How I got my Covid-19 vaccination, Part 1.

My name is Teacher Roy and I am an English teacher working in Thailand at S.L.S academy
off 3rd road Pattaya. Because I am over 60 I do not qualify for vaccination via the education
system. Yet the stipulation for qualifying is over 60.T.I.T.
So, I set about getting a vaccine myself .I Registered on several platforms and was eventually
successful in getting an appointment at the BNH in Bangkok. They offered me an
appointment for the AstraZeneca injection. I had to report 30 minutes early for registration
and documentation on Wednesday the 11th of August at 10 am. Albeit I was not informed
until 24 hours prior by text message, which I nearly did not see because I was expecting an
email. Also I had to fill in a pre-registration form online in order to make my arrival smoother.
The next day I set off for BKK at 6am to make sure there were no problems with traffic
etc. The journey was quite uneventful other than the fact BKK itself was relatively quiet due to
Covid-19. However, I did have problems with my GPS because of the high building density in
BKK, so reader beware. The BNH is located on Convent Rd. Silom. Parking was easy at the
hospital’s private underground parking facility. Initially, I was informed there would be a charge
for parking of between 300 and 500 baht. However for whatever reason they waived the fee
on leaving.
I entered the BNH at ground floor level for registration whereupon I was told to take a seat
by a very nice lady. Once that was completed I then went to the 3rd floor again to have my
details checked and asked to wait. Finally, I was ushered into yet another room where I
waited maybe 10 minutes for my AZ jab. Once that was done I waited a further 30
(precautionary) minutes before I was informed I could go home.
On reflection the whole process was relatively smooth and a nice change under the
present conditions. We encountered no checks or roadblocks neither going or coming back to
Pratumnak. As far as side effects were concerned over the next few days, I experienced a
slight headache, a 4 hour fever (38*) and fatigue. Needless to say I am perfectly fine now.
My second jab is on the 3rd of November.
I have heard since that the BKK hospital in Pattaya is taking expats over 60 now, which
would have been a lot easier. I’m not sure on the roll out for this but I suggest you do your
own research.
Take care, be good and happy vaxxing
