Reading English to gain English Fluency – “ReadOasis”
You or your SLS English teacher can set your reading goals to increase your fluency in English. Our suggestion is that you read, read read or just read BIG!
In our experience, reading textbooks often teach reading by providing more comprehension activities and questions than actual reading texts, so readers spend more time in “reading activities” than actual reading. And usually, these are intensive activities where students know less than 90% of the words in the text. So in addition to English classes, we promote the benefits of extensive reading.
Signing up with ReadOasis through readoasis.com/sls provides readers something much more than reading skills, the reading class and reading activities. Reading BIG is an immersion approach to language acquisition (learning). Reading BIG will help with TOEIC and IELTS preparation. Either you can self study, setting your own goals or your SLS teacher can help you set your reading goals.
