Working with Thais at SLS – Family Atmosphere

Working with Thais at SLS – Family Atmosphere

Have you ever worked with Thais? I have for 23 years. They really make it easy for you to live and work in their country. Our incredible Thai staff are conscientious, work to satisfy and are kind. At the Salisa Language School & SLS TEFL Training Centre we have 4 permanent Thai staff and from time to time we have a number of casual/part-time Thai staff connected to the school.

Our executive director, Khun Piyasiri, is Thai and has a Masters Degree in Corporate Finance, from the University of New Haven Connecticut, USA.

Reception and administration roles, when combined, can be very tough however our staff work to satisfy teachers and students alike with pleasant and polite interaction while getting the work done in a helpful manner.

In Thailand, family, friends, community and good food are most important and our staff bring all of this importance with them into the school creating a family atmosphere. They like to be happy, have fun (“Sunuk”). Our language students and TEFL graduates will often speak of the school’s family atmosphere in their critiques of the school and our courses.

The Thai team keep cool, don’t lose temper and work hard to make the SLS school a success. They conform very well to outsiders ideas. They accept all types of people with indifference.

Our administration lead is extremely well organized and target driven. She was formerly a hotel receptionist and was recommended by a TEFL graduate of our school. Responses are fast and immediate from Khun Chompoo and accounting deadlines are never late. She is a happy and results-driven team member with a huge heart.

The school Principal, Khun Mam, was awarded her Bachelor Degree (English Major) from the Sakonnakorn Ratchaphat Institute, Thailand. In addition to her role as principal, she handles all interactions that the school has with governmental departments namely, Labour Department, Ministry of Education and Immigration Department (on behalf of the foreign teachers and the school). She teaches English to Thais and Thai language to foreigners and Thai kids who need additional support. She often supports  classes at local factories when we teach Business English, IELTS and or TOEIC.

Khun Nongluk (Little Mam) was a new addition to the team early in 2020. She came to us to support our growing administration role and she is now learning to teach “computer and software” as well as Thai language. Thais wish to improve themselves and she is no exception. She has widened her support around the school and has embarked on a Bachelor of Arts (English) with the Sukhothai Thammathirat Open University, Thailand.

Teachers, TEFL graduates and language students always make reference to how good our staff are, and say that the family atmosphere, at the school, adds to their experience.
