Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL) refers to teaching English Language to students with different first languages. TEFL can
be taught either within the government school system, private schools, a language school or with a tutor. TEFL can also be taught in an
English-speaking country to people who have migrated there (either temporarily for school or work or permanently). TEFL teachers may be native or non-native English speakers.
Other acronyms used are TESL (Teaching English as a Second Language), TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages), and ESL (English as a Second Language; a term typically used in English-speaking countries, and more often referring to the learning than the teaching).
We employ a curriculum approved and accredited by the Chonburi Provincial Education Authority (a division of the Ministry of Education, (Thailand) and supported independent Thai ESL professors. SLS is located in Thailand and is registered as a school governed by its laws and operates under the authority of the Ministry of Education, Thailand. SLS received authority to operate by passing through a rigorous approval and accreditation process. and subsequently obtained a license to teach an “in-class” course.
For the SLS course to become approved the support of three Thai university professors of English was required. If you plan to work in a Thai government school it is better to hold an in-class TEFL course certificate, and better still, one approve by the Ministry of Education, Thailand.
