So proud of the diversity of our SLS TEFL Course Graduates – We are turning out wonderful teachers.

So proud of the diversity of our SLS TEFL Course Graduates – We are turning out wonderful teachers.

We began Salisa Language School in September 2014 with its current TEFL course format being authenticated, approved and licensed ready for training teachers in early 2018.

This year, like each year before it, we have given those people who wish to be English teachers the opportunity to carry a TEFL qualification forward into their new career. We don’t just have a policy to provide our TEFL course to Native English Speakers (NES)(USA, Australia, Canada, New Zealand, Republic of Ireland and the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland). We believe well educated English speakers from countries across the world can provide a rich array of skills, knowledge and culture and be of huge benefit to students of English in Thailand and beyond.

In the 9 months to this “September-October 2023” course, we will have developed 28 TEFL graduates from 12 countries (USA, UK, Thailand, Canada, Sweden, Cambodia, Spain, Russia, Malaysia, Nigeria, Turkey and the Philippines). NES graduates will make up 15 of the graduates, while 13 are Non-Native English Speakers (NNES). We have had quality people joining our course across the year. We will have had 9 female and 19 male graduate TEFL teachers when the September course ends in early October. Of the 28 graduates, 16 are bachelor degree holders or better, 5 have higher levels of English Education and while others had good English Educations at schools in their home countries. They have also come to us with a wealth of work experience and specialisations i.e. teachers, accountants, an information technology professional, a solder, musicians, a manufacturing plant manager, NGO volunteers and employees, a salesman, a lawyer, a hotel service staff administrator, and a forestry ranger. A very diverse educated group now teaching, or planning to teach, English particularly to Thailand’s students.

Of the 28 graduates, we know of 15 who are now in paid teaching work, while others are retirees, or continuing their studies, or volunteer teachers working in Asia.

We are very proud to be a part of the process to see people graduate in TEFL and assist them find their teaching objective. Our TEFL Trainer, Mr. Cillian Hayes, a British educated teacher, academic, coach and mentor, has led the course since our opening in 2014 and deserves the credit of his well earnt reputation. He and all the staff at SLS make our TEFL course the “one” to graduate and receive assistance in teaching students in Thailand.

Just take a look at the body language of Matt, one of our TEFL teacher trainees, as he takes a practice lesson at Srisuvit School. Many of our teachers are now out in Thailand and elsewhere doing great work.
